Luke and Gemma | Mangawhai, Northland
This was a special wedding for me, because I've actually known Gemma all her life, as our parents are old friends and neighbours. It was fantastic being part of her wedding day, and what made it even better, is that they had the ceremony and reception at Luke's parents' house in Mangawhai, which is just minutes from my house! It couldn't get any better... there was just one small issue... it was predicted that a line of thunderstorms would come over at about 4pm.
Anyway, the girls got ready at a beautiful Tuscan Villa on the Mangawhai Estuary, while the boys were not far away at Gemma's parents' bach. After a quick ride in a classic Holden the ceremony had begun and there was no sign of rain. We went back to the villa for the bridal photos and found a few other sneaky spots around. Then, just as we were leaving the last spot - down came the rain! I'm talking monsoon, golf-ball sized rain drops. But lucky for them, the official part was done and they could relax, enjoy the reception and party into the night.
Congratulations Gemma and Luke :)
